On adjacent property is a game farm with a double industrial tall fence and recently bulldozed road. Private land adjacent to this (also bordering USFS) is currently grazed with weak fencelines and some grazing apparent on USFS land. Dry woodlands continues downslope from plot on south aspect. See also plot USFS. 194. Downslope is a steep wilderness all the way to river.;South facing shoulder of ridge spur of Cave Mountain. Shallow, high pH soils on Helderberg limestone with bedrock outcrops and loose rock. Community is a short statured woodland or open forest dominated by chinquapin oak with sugar maple, juniper, and shagbark over a grassy herb layer. Essentially no shrub or sapling cover probably due to past cattle grazing and current deer browse. Trees are contorted and dwarfed. Tree regeneration may be limited by drought.
