Remote mountaintop with Red, Chestnut Oak forests reflecting past catastrophic fire events. Includes areas of successional Pitch Pine on plateau, edaphic Pitch Pine on cliff edge. Cliff outcrops with abundant Paronychia and Umbilicaria muehlenbergii.;Dipslope on sandstone about 100 meters back from ridgeline escarpment. Community is a forest dominated by Chestnut Oak with scattered Pitch Pine. Evidence past fire includes bimodal size classes and fire scarred snags. Larger trees apparently survivors of the fire. Understory is dominated by shrubs. Tree bark has much lichen growth. Live trees have many dead branches.
