FS Road 90 J runs 20m above the plot on the ridgeline. The road is weedy (Polygonum caespitosum). This ridgetop is largely a mix of multi - stemmed tall shrubs of Hawthorn & Striped Maple, with a few Norway Spruce plantations. It was difficult to find "natural" vegetation to sample.;This steep South - facing slope just off the crest of the ridge has a few large old trees and large deadfall. Most trees in the plot are younger. The forest has probably been disturbed multiple times by logging and grazing. Some of the taller trees have broken crowns, presumably from wind / ice damage.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to sample mature oak forest just off the crest of the ridge. This plot is within the Ramshorn Prescribed Burn Project area and the high wind resource polygons. The plot looks somewhat disturbed, but less so than most of the ridgetop.
