Back country area on the Monongahela NF. Lightly used Tea Creek Mtn. trail runs - 50m from plot. This is a large stand of relatively undisturbed forest, adjacent to the Cranberry Wilderness.;Second growth deciduous ridgetop forest which may be successional to Red Spruce on a scale of decades to centuries. Small spruce componet exists in stand. Ferns dominate the herb layer. A few old decayed stumps in plot. Beech trees are diseased and some are partly defoliated.
Representativeness
Plot was placed to sample broadleaf forest dominance within broad Red Spruce zone in a high wind resource polygon. This forest type covers large portions of Tea Creek Mtn.
