On the upper terrace above the plot is a small patch Sycamore / Sugar Maple forest. The floodplain is truncated by an old railgrade / trail which begins at the road to Sharp Knob.;Linear herbaceous community growing along stream right of Old Field Fork. There are a few standing trees growing in the downstream edge of the plot. Here there is a great deal of flotsam piled up. Some of the trees in the pile have >30cm dbh's. There is a small back channel with standing water in the plot. Scattered limestone fragmants can be observed mixed with the stream cobble. The plot appears to receive high energy flooding, eventhough it is currently only a trickle.
