Private land adjacent has Juniperus / Bouteloua woodlands, again with relatively few weeds.;Gently sloping mountain top on limestone lithology, with clayey soil. Community is a somewhat open deciduous forest of small - medium stunted young trees. Red oak is dominant with hickory, sugar maple. Hop hornbeam and red bud prominent in tall shrub layer. Area was likely cleared and grazed, but weeds are not abundant and dead snags and down wood may attest to light land use.
