Downslope ca 400m is the Elk River. Between here and there is a large area of blowdown. There is a log job on private land to the NE. It appears to enter a short distance into the blowdown zone.;Relatively even aged deciduous forest of Red Oak - Tulip poplar / American Beech. The plot is at the top of a shallow N facing cove. There are several herbs growing on the forest floor. There is moderate cov er by S1 and S2 species. The micro topography of the plot is one of pit and mound. There is no sign of logging in the plot. Perhaps the tulip poplar moved in after a wind event.
