Uphill grades to small patch of Picea rubens forest. Large roadless area, candidate Wilderness Area. Roads are gated and unmainatained.;Upper slope near crest of mountain with forest of mixed northern hardwoods, mostly Prunus serotina and Fagus grandifolia, with Picea rubens coming up in subcanopy. Herb layer is dominated by Dryopteris intermedia. Many beech are dead or dying. There is a large uncut stump in plot which may indicate that stand is recovering after burning as opposed to logging, but there are logging roads above and below plot.
Representativeness
Second growth northern hardwoods matrix forest with spruce potential. Pretty generic, but with large cherry.
