Remote mountain flank. Nearby to south is a steep sandstone glade on bedrock pavement. Beyond that is a boulder drain and beyond that is more old growth.;East aspect dip slope of North Fork Mountain. Sterile soils derived from Pottsville sandstone support an old growth chestnut oak forest. Most larger trees lean downslope. Old growth criterea include large, gnarled trees, standing dead, abundant deadfall, diverse age classes and open canopy. Shrub layer has patchy cover by mountain laurel. Deep organic soil layer.
