The plot is located at the W edge of a cove which is protected as a botanical area by the MONF. Thirty meters W of the plot is the Coberly Sods South grazing allotment. To the east across the cove the forest is owned by a private limestone company.;Rich forest growing on a S facing ridge nose. The forest is dominated by large Quercus rubra and Carya spp. The forest floor is lush with a diverse and abundant herb layer. There is also an abundance of S1 and S2 shrubs. There are some exposed limestone rocks (.5m^2 to 2m^2) within the plot. There is some sign of deer herbivory. This is one of the nicest oak - hickory stands I have observed in the state. I come here in the spring to enjoy the vivid array of wildlowers, including the state tracked Trillium nivale.
