Scenic corridor through high elevation National Forest. Surrounding forests appear younger and more even-aged cherry and sugar maple. Across highway is a smaller patch w/ buckeye. Higher up mountain is red spruce zone.;Small bowl or cove near ridgeline of high mountian, below spruce zone. Rich deciduous forest dominated by buckeye, sugar maple. ash, and cherry w/ some yellow birch. High diversity of size classes in this small patch with sugar maple dominanting the subcanopy and tall shrub layers. Herb layer is lush, with abundant wood nettles, lillies, and touch-me-not.
