There is a hemlock in stand above plot. Below plot is an old skid trail which is used regularly by ATV's from adjacent neighborhood. Access to this USFS up Dry Creek is not public.;Cool aspect slope in dissected shale landscape with side ridges facing the hottest (SW) and coolest (NE) aspects. Community is a deciduous, mesophytic forest w/ medium large red oak, basswood, white ash, with mostly smaller sugar maple. Herb layer is moderately lush and diverse. Stand is probably even-aged 2nd growth. Amazingly, there were no weeds in plot.
Representativeness
Large patch on NE aspect, probably repeating as one of main components of the forest matrix. Placed plot to sample mix of species.
