Large USFS tract w/ extensive gated road system.;Middle elevation mountain system west of the high Alleghenies. Ridge system on Hamphshire Shale formation. Ridgetop with west aspect supports a deciduous forest dominated by medium size white and chestnut oaks. Oaks are also well represented in the subcanopy and short shrub layers. Site has good long term oak potential if deer do not increase.
Representativeness
Small patch of sub-xeric oak forest on ridgetop, probably repeated in warm, upper slope positions throughout this extensive ridge system.
