The surrounding floodplain is mostly under agriculture. The area directly surrounding the plot is a day use National Forest Recreation Area for Seneca Rocks. There is a parking lot ca. 70 m SW of the plot, Seneca Creek is located ca. 100 m SSW, the North Fork South Branch Potomac River is located ca. 100 m E. There is a trail to Seneca Rocks located ca. 50 m to the NE.;Forested floodplain with an overstory dominated by Platanus occidentalis. The forest is rather weedy with large cover of both Japanese stiltgrass and Japanese knotweed. The forest is heavily browsed by deer likely adding to the increase in invasive cover. The area likely floods during times of heavy rain. It is located near the confluence of Seneca Creek and the North Fork South Branch Potomac River.
