Community is at downstream end of USFS day-use recreation site. Higher floodplains have hemlock and sugar maple floodplain forest types. Prairie patches along these middle reaches are widely scattered and small.;Riverside cobble bar at head of small island with an ephemeral back channel. Cobbles average 10-30 cm across, and there is a small area of sand. Community is primarily herbaceous with some small tree saplings and flood tolerant shrubs. Community is regularly flooded in winter and spring and also occasionally in the growing season. There is large flotsom at the downstream end of prairie patch.
