Somewhat isolated patch of USFS land. There aren't any obvious roads into the tract. On the ridge above the plot the forest is dominated by Quercus prinus / Kalmia latifolia. To the W on this slope at roughly the same elevation the forest is dominated by pitch and table mountian pine. To the S downslope ca. 1 km is US Rt 33 Just before that is Seneca Creek.;Xeric forest dominated by Virginia pine and Chestnut Oak. The plot is located on a steep S facing midslope. There are several heavily used deer trails crossing the plot. There are several old fire scarred trees within the plot. The plot was an attempt to sample edaphic Virginia pine but after further inspection it appears the pine is likely successional after a fire.

Large patch of mixed evergreen deciduous forest. Plot was placed to maximize cover of Pinus virginiana.
