East flank of Middle Mountain and side ridges have extensive oak/heath and oak-hickory forests, all on the dry side. Nearby aspects have mountain laurel and more chestnut oak mixed with pitch pine.;Sideridge of Middle Mountain on E facing shoulder above the head of a small unamed drainage. Community is a forest dominated by red oak with lesser amounts of chestnut oak, white oak. Understory has moderate cover by huckleberry and blueberry with a few white pine saplings. Lots of dead snags in stand and many trees are damaged or stressed, with thin canopies, perhaps from past gypsy moth or drought effects.

Plot placed at location of plot USFS.212 sampled in 199?. That plot had reported an occurrence of the rare box-huckleberry which is not found here. Vegetation does not match that of plot USFS.212, so coordinates are in error.
