Downslope below road is large area of alluvial fan with dominance by buckeye with scattered hemlock. Floodplain of Williams River has extensive buckeye floodplain forest.;Lower slope of large cove which dissected by numerous small drains. Plot samples rich forest in a bowl with sugar maple, ash, basswood, and cherry. Herb layer includes nutrient demanding herbs such as ramps and nettles. Sawn stumps in stand, probably from selective cut. Large Tilia from stump sprouts may predate more recent cutting.

Large patch rich northern hardwoods on dissected lower slope. More typical rich, northern hardwoods compared to buckeye type sampled by MONF.501.
