Stand is along historic rail grade in Wilderness Area in the Monongahela National Forest. Spruce forest surrounds the stand.;Open woodland with red spruce and a variety of heath shrubs on hummocky Sphagnum - Polytrichum peat. The stand occurs in a broad summit depression or saddle between higher points on Cabin Mountain. Spruce is stunted and yellowed from inundation stress. Regeneration of red spruce is excellent. Good example of CEGL006588. Headwater peatland.
