Outlook at end of 1 1/2 mile trail through successional Northern Hardwood / Rhododendron. Ajacent cliff face sampled by MONF.526.;Nearly level sandstone pavement sloping back from cliff edge. Although slope is N, exposure from cliff edge is S, giving site high solar exposure. Community is dominated by crustose lichens with macrolichen, bryophytes and shrubs confined to microsites. Sparse macrolichen cover on rock may indicate that rock was previously covered by vegetation~burning erosion may have denuded the site. Rock along edge has higher cover by macro lichen (eg. Dimalena).
Representativeness
