Isolated cliff in wilderness setting. Red Creek is located ca. 700 yds W, The Rorbaugh Trail is located ca 300 yds. NE. The plot is just over the edge of a large plateau. Above the cliff is a dense red spruce / great laurel forest. Below the cliff the community appears the same. To the N ca. 0.3 of a mile is a similar cliff which, is along the trail, is somewhat larger and has a classic overlook of Red Creek.;Exposed and heavily weathered sandstone boulderpile. The rocks are exfoliating from the cliff above. Open hot and sunny at the time of survey. Many of the boulders are loose and somewhat mobile.
Representativeness
Small patch of lichen covered boulderfield. Similar to plots sampled at Stack Rock, Breathed Mtn. (Lion,s Head), and Cabin Mountain.
