Large upland plateau. Surrounding area is a mosaic of upland and wetland spruce/heath forests, woodlands and shrublands. Land is owned by USFS Monongahela National Forest and managed as wilderness. The Roaring Plains Trail is located ca 50 m SE.;Exposed boulderfield on a gently SW sloping plateau. The rocks are lichen covered, flat, roughly 10cm thick, and range in size from 0.5 meters square to 1 meter square. There are a few low growing, sacattered shrubs, mostly minnie bush and mountain ash, throughout the stand. Crinkled hairgeass id the dominant forb. Area was probably forested with Picea rubens before logging boom. After logging the area likely burned and has been slow to recover.

Small patch of open boulderfield on large eroded plateau. Plot was placed to exclude cover by red spruce and maximize cover of bare rock. Plot is similar to sites observed on Red Creek Plain, Roarbaugh Plain, Bear Rocks, and Cabin Mountain. Few if any plo
