Landscape Narrative ? Wilderness Area with successional forests and shrublands. Some red spruce forests are planted, others natural. There are scattered spruce, a few pines, and red maple.;Vast open plains at high elevation on "the sods." Area cleared, burned, grazed, then left as Wilderness Area. Open areas are patchwork of shrub types, including dominance patches by black huckleberry, Mt laurel, and blueberries. This large patch is almost entirely deciduous (blueberries + huckleberries) with a dense subcanopy of fruiticose reindeer lichens. There is burned wood in plot.
