The surrounding forest is managed by the USFS Monongahela National Forest. The forest below the cliff is a rich Tilia americana - Acer saccharum - Betula alleghaniensis / Laportea canadensis forest. Above the plot is somewhat similar only drier w/ red oak and Actaeae.;Narrow band of exposed limestone cliff, ranging in height from 10-15 m tall. Although the cliff face is overhung by a basswood-sugar maple forest. There appears to be a possible cave entrance in the plot. Relatively rare community type in WV due to farming, logging, and mining. Relatively low diversity due to erodability.
Representativeness
Moss and lichen covered Greenbrier Limestone cliff. Similar to plots sampled near Bowden. Plot was placed to sample cliff polygon from the NE habitat map.
