Remote USFS land accessed by primitive County road with mudholes. Narrow terrace along creek has white oak - white pine with herbs.;Rolling hills on shale geology. Plot is on nose running between 2 draws, but similar forest occurs in all positions, at least on lower slopes above draws. Forest is dominated by large white pine and Eastern hemlock, with Eastern hemlock dominant in subcanopy. Oaks and maples scattered. There are fire scars on old root wads which probably predate stand establishment. Understory is sparse.

Large patch - matrix forest. White pine - Eastern hemlock - oak. Same type as CAPR.10. Sampling hemlock before it dies.
