Landscape Narrative ? Upper slope near ridge on west flank of high ridge. Rocky soils with many lichen covered rocks exposed where not covered by needle litter. Forest is near a monoculture of red pine with some scattered red oak. Sparse understory with scattered shrubs, sedges and ferns. Pines are regenerating especially in canopy gaps associated with standing dead pine trees. Numerous deer trails through stand.
