Noise from highway is intermittant but loud. Recent logging in vicinity.;South slope with young forest dominated by root sprouted Quercus alba with scattered taller Pinus strobus. Evidence of density dependent mortality of pine and oak. High diversity in herb layer including clonal patches of Carex woodii. Sawn stumps are mostly larger than dbh of current forest and are colonized by mosses. Very little shrub cover possibly due to successional stage of forest compounded by deer herbivory.
Representativeness
Probably represents second growth matrix forest on warm aspects in these parts. Compare to old growth plot at N. Fork Anthony Creek (MONF.77).
