Upslope fir/conifer mixes with hardwoods.;Old pasture. Sphagnum with spruce-fir. Between stream and slope. Fir goes to stream edge. In lower-lying areas, i.e. old stream channels (?) appears "duckweed" and Leersia growing bright green. Plot has swath of lower area with Leersia newly establishing. Acer rubrum just outside of plot, rooted but fallen out of plot (12 dbh). From grass on trees, water appears to have been approximately 12 inches higher at one time. Snags appear to be Picea.
evidence of historic fire (old trees scarred); balsam woolly adelgid appears light; many standing dead both old and young here in the "floodplain" perhaps because of beaver activity. Area appears to have been flooded in the recent past from beaver.
