Bounded by the West Fork of the Greenbrier River and the railroad bed. High terrace forest of large Betula lenta and Tsuga canadensis on upstream edge. Narrow community of Carex torta lines the river.;Point bar underlain by deep sand accumulation. Possibly kept open by depostition rather than scouring. May turn into a tall forb community later in the season. Relatively undisturbed. Cut off down and upstream by river erosion. Crataegus trees around the edge. Carex trichocarpa extends over humps and swales within the plot. A few sticks presumed to be deposited by flood water. Several apple trees planted in tree tubes just outside of plot.
