Large privately owned floodplain complex on Bevan Bend of the Potomac River. To the SW ca, 60 m is a nice patch of silver maple forest (CEGL6217) (see plot MORG.18). Within the river is a rooted aquatic bed with Vallisneria and Heteranthera (see plot MORG.20). Across the river is a Juniperus virginiana woodland on a steep shale slope (CEGL6288?). That areas is the Green Ridge National Forest in Maryland and is the mountain the Paw Paw tunnel is beneath. Much of the WV side is private with a thin right of way owned by the CHOH NPS. Multiple land owners with relatively little development (vacation cabins). See plots MORG.16,17,18,20 for more context.;Frequently flooded cobble bar. Open and sunny with few if any woody species rooted within the plot. Although the community is shaded from the forest on the higher terrace above the plot. This area is likely underwater much of the season inhibiting the establishment of woody species
