Downslope grades quickly to tuliptree forest. Upslope is rocky area with hackberry, then old fields with young planted trees.;Rolling karst plain in area with long history of human use. This spot was probably forested continuously or at least longer than surrounding successional tulip tree forest. Forest is an unusual mix for NCTC with dominance by red and white oak. There is a dense tall shrub layer of paw-paw, typical throughout all types in this area.
