Area has a long history of agricultural development and now has an assortment of successional forest types and old fields. Rocky areas, like this plot, were probably not disturbed as much and have more natural forest types. Across ravine on private land is successional sycamore on an upland slope.;Limestone outcrop on hillbreak above a shallow ravine. Rich soil supports forest of medium size chinquapin oak, bitternut hickory, ash, and hackberry. The tall shrub layer is dominated by paw-paw with some black haw. The lush forb layer is dominated by twinleaf and false mermaid.
