Uphill forest is floodplain forest with Acer saccharinum and Platanus occidentalis. Sunny riverside positions with coarser substrate (sand, cobble) become dominated by Justicia americana.;Often saturated silty-sandy beach along eddy zone at downstream end of creek mouth alluvial fan, below driftwood zone under tall trees. Soft substrate with sparse cover by Scirpus pungens and scattered trees (Platanus occidentalis, Betula nigra, Salix nigra). Could be mapped as PLOC-BENI woodland, but Scirpus is repeated in these positions (alluvial fines drop zone).
Representativeness
Plot covers entire linear small patch community (ca. 5x80 m). Taken to document Dean Walton's mapping of this community type, however it is very limited in extent and may be included in the PLOC-BENI woodland mapping unit.
