Channel of Laurel Creek was heavily scored by floods in summer 2001, leaving intact floodplain forests only on the upper terraces such as this plot. There are now barren cobble and sand bars along much of the creekbed.;Young alluvial terrace in a thin band between the creek and old railroad grade. Stream bank just at edge of plot was heavilly eroded by summer floods in 2001. There is alot of coal refuse scattered about. Forest has been thinned by beaver.
