The sandy depositional terrace above plot is bisected by a washout from a small stream from the gorge slope above. These sand banks seem to be associated with small stream mouths along straight slow river stretches (eroded alluvial fans). The terrace above plot is a depositional landform with scattered Acer sacharinum among tall herbs (similar to plot 325). Area with old campsite has infestation of Microstegium mixed with Leersia virginica (look alikes).;River bank with scattered trees overhanging a community of annuals invaded by Glechoma herderacea. Narrow zone (about 3 m wide) confined to sandy banks with sunny aspect. Community has high diversity of "weedy" annuals, both native and exotics. Below bank is a narrow, more level saturated sandy beach.
Representativeness
ELU 323 (south facing cove on shale), but this is a tiny inclusion between 1340 (river channel) and 1333 (slope bottom). Discontinuous linear community in areas along river with steep-sided eroded banks. Not easily mappable.
