This plot is probably part of the typical Acer saccharum/Aesculus flava community which is very abundant. It is, however, different because Aesculus flava is not as abundant as usual and Ulmus rubra is a rather common component.;This plot is on a northeast facing wooded hillside. It is on a ridge or interfluve between two woodland drainages. Above the plot area is slightly open because of a powerline cut.
