Landscape Narrative ? This plot is just below the cliffband where a plateau begins. The area is dominated by Betula lenta and Tsuga canadensis. There is not much herb layer (only a few species are common, Dryopteris spinulosa, Scutellaria saxatilis). Above this plot is a cliff and then a high level plateau area. The plateau area is dominated by lots of Tsuga canadensis, Rhododendron maximum, and Kalmia latifolia. Acer rubrum, Quercus prinus, Oxydendrum arboreum and Magnolia fraserii are quite common as well.;This plot is at a high slope level. It is located just before the cliff band where a plateau begins. The area is covered by very large rocks throughout.
Representativeness ? This plot is representative of a high slope area just below the cliff band. This area is dominated by Betula lenta and some Tsuga in the tree layer. Rhododendron maximum is very abundant in the shrub layers.
