This plot is in a shrub dominated area of Kate's Branch Wetland. It is dominated by Alnus serrulata and Hypericum densiflorum. The herb layer is mostly Carex spp. and Scripus spp. where the ground is just saturated. Sparganium americanum dominates where there is standing water. Just south of this plot is a Pinus strobus area with some Kalmia latifolia thicket (This same community is also on the opposite side of the wetland).;This plot is in Kate's Branch Wetland. There is a meandering drainage going through the area with higher saturated areas surrounding.
Representativeness
This plot is representative of the dense shrub wetland community found at Kate's Branch Wetland. This area is dominated by mostly Alnus serrulata with Hypericum densiflorum being abundant as well. Ilex verticillata is another shrub often found sparingly
