This plot is a Pinus strobus community with Kalmia thicket shrub layer. The dominant herb is Lycopodium obscurum. This Pinus strobus laurel thicket is found to the north and south of the wetland (some areas have a thicket of Rhododendron maximum instead of Kalmia latifolia). There are also areas where there is no thicket or understory shrub layer (plot #50).;This plot is on a dry area just off the north edge of Kate's Branch Wetland.

Beaver impacted wetland just south of this area. At one time, the wetland probably also had Pinus strobus community (many dead Pinus strobus in the wetland).
