The occurrence is located at the bottom of Spring Creek about 500 ft. east of where it used to empty into the Ohio River. A RR bank has been built across the creek and only a culvert is left to connect the creek to the river. An area of open water lies between the marsh and the RR embankment. To the north and south are low ridges forested with a mixture of black maple, buckeye, ash, hickory, sycamore, with a dense canopy of paw-paw.The sagittaria latifolia is in larger clumps nearby. One clump of Typha latifolia is in the community.;The area is inundated up to 5 cm., but recent rains have probably caused this.
