The occurrence is located on a peninsula type extension that was isolated when the embayment was created by a dam downstream in the Ohio River. The north part of the area, where there is more land, has a higher slope up and a few homes above. The Ohio River is about 0.25 mi. to the west. There is some dense Asimina triloba outside the plot. Other species in the area include a few Plantanusm occidentalis, a Quercus palustris tree (dbh= 97.5 cm.), a large Gleditsia trianthos tree, and a patch of Lysmachia nummularia.;The vegetation is varied, but repeats in small enough areas to only sample once.
Representativeness
The plot is representative, except that it has no Asimina triloba.
