The occurrence is located along a back channel of the Ohio River which has been diked and has filled with water to a depth of 10-100 cm. To the west is a large old field with shrubs and then the Ohio River with a few trees on the bank. Across the water to the east is a shrub area with Cornus ammonum and then the RR tracks and then a 50 ft. escarpment with many houses on top.;The vegetation occurs in distinct zones along the back shallow slope up from the open water of the back of the channel: first a strip of Polygonum hydropiperoides, then Juncus effusus and then a mixture with shrubs.
