See PEND.61,64. Land managed as preserve. Lots of noise from highway intersection and state roads facility down slope. Uphill is abundant hemlock deadfall, above that becomes very rocky.;Lower slope of water gap, just off side of nose and above a steep hollow. Community is a deciduous forest dominated by red oak, shag bark hickory, and sugar maple. Shrub layers are missing and herb layer is probably more depauperate than it. Should be without heavy deer herbivory. Soil tested circumneutral. Herb layer is dominated by the blacks (snake root and cohosh), which seem to be less palatable to deer.
