Private lands under TNC easment. Remote, little visited high elevation ridgetop. Paper birch and red pine are scattered broadly in area.;Rocky ledges on NW aspect of ridge crest. Community is an open canopy, mostly evergreen forest or woodland dominated by native red pine. Tree saplings include paper birch and red pine. Shrub layers are patchy with dense tall mountain laurel and other areas of low minnie bush. The herb layer has low diversity, dominated by polypody fern.
Representativeness
Small patch of native red pine, similar to stands at Pike Knob and Helmick Rocks. Plot also includes the state rare paper birch in the subcanopy.
