Area of Franklin Gorge is popular rock-climbing, fishing, swimming and party spot with social trails. Cliffs skirt side of gorge tops. Riparian zone has battered sycamore with weedy associated flora.;Rocky, colluvial gorge slope on north aspect supports a mixed hemlock-deciduous forest. Sandstone boulders may be underlain by limestone. Forest includes nutrient demanding basswood, tuliptree and spice bush. Herb layer is dominated by tall ferns. Hemlock are dying from adelgid, with gaps forming in an already open canopy. There are several non-native invasives established in stand. Substrate is boulders with voids open or filled with duff.
