The plot is just a few meters from Guano Creek which runs parallel just meters to the west from the creek.;The plot is on a large floodplain which extends from the base of the hill to the east for ~60m to the creek. There is a a dried up backwater channel running through the plot parallel to the creek. The herb layer is dominated in most parts not cut through by the backwater channels by thick cover of Verbesena alternifolia. The S1 stratum shows strong cover of pawpaw and spicebush.

Plot was placed to capture a section of a large floodplain to include an herb layer of Verbesena alternifolia and some larger sycamore and liquidambar trees
