Private land with roads, residences, camps and agriculture (including woodlots and plantations) comprise most of the landscape. Reservior just downhill. This forest patch is dissected by seepy channels with Chrysosplenium americanum.;Deciduous forest dominated by red and white oak and cherry with relatively lush forb layer and intact shrub layer (little deer herbivory). Trees are large and beginning to break up, forming canopy gaps and adding snags and downed wood. No sign of past logging - not touched since at least 1928 - may be virgin- at least new old growth.
Representativeness
Small Patch of maturing forest at Camp Oglebay. May represent natural conditions for northern hardwoods forest in this part of the state.
