Downhill is a County Park w/ recreation facilities. Trail system meanders through undeveloped forest.;Lower slope with enriched, "calcareous" soil supports a deciduous forest, dominated by chinquapin oak, hickories, and ash. Canopy is somewhat open with old downfall in plot. There is moderate tall shrub cover by spicebush, and a remarkable occurrence of blue ash, apparently confined to shrub layers. Herb layer is lush and diverse.
Representativeness
Rich oak forest w/ Fraxinus quadrangulata in shrub layer. Rectangular plot used to maintain gentle slope w/ lush herbs, and to avoid trail below. Community continues below trail. Spring flora is represented.
