Over hill is red oak / Christmas fern forest.;Terraced side slope with warm aspect. Slopes are actively eroded, with some gullies and slides and exposed soil on steep slopes. Forest is dominated by medium large red oaks, ash, white oak, chinquapin oak, with subcanopy strongly dominated by sugar maple. Shrubs and herbs are sparse.
Representativeness
Matrix forest of terraced hills with somewhat enriched soils, but not supporting the lush herb layer found at bottom of hill. Plot includes part of flat and steep slope below.
