Tall herbs in bloom on banks above plot: Rhexia virginica, Verbeena hastata, Mimulus ringens, Helenium flexuosum, Asclepias incarnata. Part of chaotic wetland mosaic at Montrose mitigation site including ponds, large bulrush wet meadows, tall herb communities, and a little alder/buttonbush. Weedy site.;Narrow (5m wide) backwater slough in mitigation wetland in Leading Creek floodplain. Stagnant water with mudcracks showing under 0-30cm inundation. Alder overhangs the community on the edges, and tall herbs fill in the sunny parts of the banks. Cattails fill one end of the slough (outside plot).
